About

Welcome to our website

Hi - I am Dr. Kenneth Woog. I began my professional career as a computer engineer. Right out of college I founded, with my two college roomates, a pesonal computer company LNW Research. At that time (1979) there were only a handful of personal computer companies in the world. We ultimately developed a clone of the TRS-80 personal computer (LNW80) adding features that were revolutionary at the time like lower case text and RGB high res color graphics.  Computers were used as a business tool and Pong was one of the few videogames in existence in the late 1970s. With the advent of Atari and the proliferation of personal computers in the 1980s, including the introduction of the IBM Personal Computer in 1981, the computer would ultimately become a tool of entertainment and gaming fun. Within a few short years, videogames, originally only available in arcades, would become commonplace in almost every home. During my career as an engineer I founded several other successful technology companies that have played an important role in the evolution of the personal computer.

One day after I had sold my last tech company I woke up and had the idea of studying psychology. Originally I was thinking of another business idea using artificial intelligence with computers. But after studying psychology and getting my first Masters degree I had decided to pursue counseling and clinical psychology. While I am proud of my role as an engineer, I also felt a sense of responsibility to help others trapped by this very technology I helped to advance. I did research on problermatic computer use for my doctorate dissertation and shortly after becoming licensed as a clinical psychologist I began working exclusively in this area.

For almost two decades I have exclusively helped those struggling with videogame and tech dependency. Over this time I have seen so much loss and pain. I have seen individuals that have never gotten help, refused help and even those exploited by others keeping them stuck. This site is dedicated to those individuals whose lives have been lost due to videogaming.. Perhaps lost not fatally, but those that fail to have full productive lives due to serious addiciton and dependency on video game play. This site is dedicated to these victims and their families who try to help.
